StyleAI Privacy Policy

1. Overview

StyleAI ("we", "us", "the app") is a personal AI styling app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we collect it, how we use it, and the third parties we share it with. We only collect data needed to provide the app's features.

2. Data we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash).

Photos you provide: selfies for color analysis, full-body photos for virtual try-on, and photos of clothing you add to your wardrobe.

Style information: your clothing sizes, color profile, saved wardrobe items, outfits, and optional city for weather-aware suggestions.

Chat content: the messages you send to the AI stylist.

Feedback: ratings or reports you submit on AI-generated content.

3. Face data (selfies for color analysis)

What we collect: When you use the Color Analysis feature, you may take or select a selfie — a photo that contains your face. This is the only feature that uses an image of your face.

How we use it: The selfie is used solely to analyze your visible natural coloring — skin tone and undertone, hair color, eye color, and contrast level — in order to generate your personal Color Profile (your color season and recommended colors). We do NOT use face data for facial recognition or identity verification, we do NOT create a faceprint or biometric template, and we do NOT use it to identify, track, or match you across services.

Who we share it with: To perform the analysis, the selfie is transmitted securely to our AI provider, OpenAI, L.L.C., which processes the image only to return your color results. Under OpenAI's API terms, your image is not used to train its models. We do not share your face data with any other third party, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

Where it is stored: We do not store your selfie on our servers or in any database — it is sent for analysis and discarded from our processing immediately after your result is returned. A copy of your most recent selfie is stored only locally on your own device (so you can review your analysis); it is not uploaded to us for storage.

How long we retain it: We retain no face data on our servers. The local on-device copy remains only until you replace it, remove it, or delete your account, all of which you can do at any time in the app. OpenAI's temporary processing is governed by its API data-retention policy, under which API inputs are retained only briefly for abuse monitoring and are not used for training.

Your control: Face data is only collected when you actively choose to take or select a selfie, and only after you have granted in-app consent to AI processing. You can withdraw consent at any time in Profile → Privacy & Data, and you can delete your photos and profile in the app.

4. How we collect it

You provide this data directly — by creating an account, taking or selecting photos via your camera or photo library, entering preferences, and chatting with the AI stylist. We do not collect data in the background, and camera and photo-library access are only used when you actively choose a photo.

5. How we use your data, and who we share it with

AI processing (OpenAI): Your photos, style details, and chat messages are sent securely to OpenAI, L.L.C. to generate color analysis, garment categorization, outfit suggestions, virtual try-on images, and chat responses. OpenAI processes this data solely to return your results and, under its API terms, does not use it to train its models. OpenAI is contractually required to protect this data with safeguards equivalent to those described here.

Product search (Amazon / Rainforest API): When you shop, your search terms and preferences (such as sizes and occasion) are sent to our product-search providers to return relevant Amazon products. Photos are not shared with these providers.

Email (SendGrid): Your email address is used to send account emails such as password-reset codes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

6. Your consent and choices

Before any personal data is sent to our AI provider, the app asks for your explicit consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time in Profile → Privacy & Data; when withdrawn, AI features stop sending your data until you grant consent again.

You can edit or remove your photos and profile details in the app at any time.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your account data is retained while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Profile → Delete Account. Photos used for AI processing are sent for analysis and are not retained by us for training or marketing.

8. Children's privacy

StyleAI is not directed to minors under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date, and where required we will ask for your consent again.
